I'm with Heart Internet (very happy) but was with Fasthosts until about a year ago.

Just thought this may interest you, Fasthosts have changed their reseller package so that the £49.99 one is now limited to 100 websites. You have to call for a price for more.

Glad I moved when I did.

Eddy.

I would be quite happy for HI to impose a limit on the total web space and bandwidth that a reseller could resell, as long as these were generous limits and if it improved performance.

I think this would be better for everyone, as overselling would be reduced and although it may mean that some potential customers may go elsewhere for their hosting, those customers are more likely to be inexperienced when it comes to selecting hosting and will simply be looking for the biggest numbers at the lowest price.

My view on this is that if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem, if everyone offered realistic hosting at a fair price then the servers wouldn't be slowed down by a few users offering 'unlimited' everything at an unsustainable price.

My highest priced package offers 50gb space and 25gb bandwidth, I may well be reducing my potential customer base, however I would rather have 10 customers who get what they pay for than 100 that aren't happy with hidden limits and slow servers.

I have thought for a long time that the word "unlimited" should be removed from Heart Internet's web site because it is simply untrue. There are limits and if there are limits how can you use the term "unlimited" ?

That's rather restrictive
Let's say you have 100 customers each with 100MB of webspace, you hardly a drain on their resources!
A limit on the number of websites is quite standard on reseller accounts, hence one of the reasons I selected Heart Internet

There are actually limits, it's just that Heart Internet keep expanding beyond them as and when required
One thing I have noticed is that they are very slow to remove or delete old accounts and data
I deleted one account two years ago, but it is still present on their system!
If they did some basic housekeeping this would free up a lot of diskspace

Of course it's also true that most web sites never get anywhere near 100mb in size so as m8internet pointed out, for £49.99 that's not exactly a great deal. Even though HI seem to want to stick with their "unlimited" thing their price and service is, in my opinion way ahead of Fasthosts.
